I was stoked to be included in the blog tour for Issue 11 of One Thimble. This is my favourite sewing magazine! This issue is absolutely ahhhmazing! There are so many patterns and articles that I am interested in.
For this blog tour I jumped at the chance to review ‘The Women’s Hoodie Vest’ by Fat Red Bird Designs.
My lovely husband had a crack at taking the photos for this blog post so if they are a little out of focus you will understand why 😉
Deciding on the fabric was a no-brainer as I had some lovely Japanese waffle fabric left over from the Rag Quilt tutorial that I wrote for this Issue of One Thimble. My daughter (5 yrs old) said that if I sit on the quilt and wear my new vest I can be camouflaged. She is a clever little cookie.
I also had some lovely white minky stashed away for “that special project” and some trackie dacks (track suit) fleece which I dug out from my sewing cave.
Not only is this vest a fast sew but it is super easy as well. I love patterns like this. I have made several hoodies for my little people in the past but never a big girl version. I love a good hoodie. It doesn’t really get that cold in Far North Qld Australia so this vest is perfect for the chilly month or two (if we are lucky) that we get every year.
The minky gives the hood such a lovely snug feel.
The pattern printed out well and the instructions were very clear and easy to understand.
I love that all of the seams are hidden so the hoodie vest has a very neat professional finish.
Did I mention that the Women’s Hoodie Vest is reversible?? Two different looks – I love that!
Look Number One
Look Number 2
I can’t decide which look I like the best – maybe I will just keep reversing it during the day depending on how I feel… I may manage to confuse some people in the process as well 😉
You can buy this pattern separately here or the entire magazine which is TOTALLY WORTH EVERY CENT here 🙂
